Water Main Design for MTDOC

This project included the design of 2,400 linear feet of 8-inch PVC water main extension at the Montana Department of Corrections (MDOC) facility in Deer Lodge, Montana. The project originally called for the installation of 6-inch PVC pipe. However, Territorial-Landworks, Inc. performed a WaterCAD analysis to determine the 6-inch pipe would not provide adequate pressure and flow for water demands and fire protection.

This water main design project included the design of 2,400 linear feet of 8-inch PVC water main extension at the Montana Department of Corrections (MDOC) facility in Deer Lodge, Montana. The project originally called for the installation of 6-inch PVC pipe. However, Territorial-Landworks, Inc. performed a WaterCAD analysis to determine the 6-inch pipe would not provide adequate pressure and flow for water demands and fire protection. TLI recommended the proposed pipe to be upgraded to 8-inch PVC to ensure the required flow and pressure would be delivered. TLI also provided additional services including construction staking, construction inspection, MDEQ permitting, as-built certification, and pressure and bacteria testing. TLI is working with the client to develop a comprehensive WaterCAD model of the entire MDOC facility water system to aid in risk analysis planning and future expansions.
